Beat the Heat: 5 Sleep Hacks for a Dreamy Summer Night's Rest

Summer's here and things are heating up, but that doesn't mean your sleep has to suffer. At Weirdstock, we're all about making your bedroom a seventies sleep sanctuary, so we've got some tips to keep you cool and comfy when the temperature rises.

1. Bedroom Chill Zone

First things first, turn your bedroom into a sleep sanctuary. Block out the sun with curtains or blinds, and keep any windows on the sunny side of your home shut tight.
Come bedtime, fling open the windows and let the cool night air work flow through.

2. Breathable Bedding: Your Summer Sleep BFF

Now, let's talk about what you sleep under. Ditch the heavy stuff! We're big fans of organic cotton bedding here at Weirdstock, and for a good reason.

Here's the science behind the magic: unlike some synthetic fabrics, GOTS certified organic cotton boasts naturally long fibres. These longer fibres create more space between the threads, allowing for superior airflow. Think of it like built-in air conditioning for your bed!

But it gets better. Organic cotton is also a natural moisture wicking champ. These long fibres absorb sweat and pull it away from your body, keeping you feeling dry and cool all night long. Plus, the natural structure of organic cotton allows for better temperature
regulation. So, whether it's a hot summer night or a chilly winter evening, our
organic cotton bedding will help you maintain a comfortable sleep temperature.

At this time of year, it’s best to ditch the duvet and just rock our duvet cover as a blanket. Psst... we're launching a limited number of flat sheets are coming soon too, so if you're after one, make sure you're on our mailing list.

So what's underneath? Our organic cotton fitted sheets and pillowcases have the same moisture wicking properties. That everlasting quest for the cold side of the pillow is no more! Check out our Percale range in Canyon Rock – Percale weave is particularly cooling.

3. Cool Down Hacks

Feeling the heat? A small fan in your bedroom should help, but if you haven’t got one or it’s not quite doing the trick, here are some DIY tricks to create a cooler sleep
environment. Try chilling your socks in the fridge for a refreshing foot
sensation that helps lower your overall body temperature.  You can also trying filling your hot water bottle with ice water for a budget-friendly cooling system placed near your
feet.

4. Stay Hydrated

Staying hydrated is key too. Sip water throughout the day, but avoid downing a load right before bed – nobody wants a middle-of-the-night bathroom break!

5. Ditch the Nighttime Jitters

Finally, watch what you drink before bed. We might all be craving that glass of rosé or a delicious iced coffee in to celebrate this rare UK sunshine, but if you’ve got trouble sleeping in the heat it’s best to watch out for what kinds of drinks you choose. Sugary
drinks and caffeine can keep you wide awake, and too much alcohol might make
you drowsy at first but disrupts your sleep later on.

So there you have it! With a few changes and our organic cotton bedding, you can conquer those hot summer nights and wake up feeling refreshed and ready to take on the day. Sweet dreams!
